Process and Steps for a Surrogate

Becoming a surrogate through BBA involves an introductory meeting and consultation with our team followed by the intake paperwork and receipt of relevant documentation.

Once all requirements are met, our knowledgeable staff will coordinate an introduction meeting between the intended parents and a surrogate for a potential match.

BBA provides concierge services throughout your surrogacy journey, from intake to birth, and is always available to assist in any way possible.

Surrogates are equally as important as the intended parents in any surrogacy journey, and our compassionate team is committed to making them feel that way.

Requirements

The proposed GC must be between the age of 21 and 43 (Ideally under 40).
The GC has delivered at least one healthy child and is at least six months postpartum for vaginal delivery and 12 months postpartum for c-section.
Prior pregnancy complications must be minor. Ideally, they have had no more than one cesarean section and no previous classical C-sections. Any other pregnancy-related complications would need to be reviewed by a physician for clearance.
Physical requirements include:

The GC must be a nonsmoker and pass a drug screen by history and testing. The GC's partner must also provide blood/urine samples for infectious disease/drug/nicotine screening.
The GC must be free of active sexually transmitted diseases and have no active medical illnesses.
The GC must undergo and pass a rather extensive psychological evaluation, including a personality profile.
IUDs or implants, where applicable, should be removed as soon as possible as these can significantly delay the initiation of treatment. Ideally, an IUD should be removed six months before consideration, but BBA will accept three months at a minimum. GCs with prior IUD use within the past year will need an unmedicated mid-cycle lining check to confirm adequate endometrial recovery.
The GC must be aware of and willing to undergo intramuscular injections as the physician dictates.
A history of previous successful surrogacy is viewed as a positive factor.

FAQs

How long does it typically take to match with intended parents?

The complete, up-front screening process of all GCs contracting with BBA before matching eliminates wasted time or disappointment should any portion of the screening fail, which is equally beneficial for surrogates and intended parents.

The complete pre-screening process typically takes two to three months to complete. However, a match is guaranteed if a prospective GC passes all the steps of her screening.

What kind of surrogate compensation is offered through BBA?

BBA compensates all surrogates that contract with our agency with a $1,000 retainer fee following their full screening ($500 at the time of medical records clearance and $500 after completing background check, in-home inspection, psychological evaluation, and complete medical evaluation).

Compensation for a first-time surrogate is $42,000-$50,000 and $52,000-$60,000 for an experienced surrogate.

BBA also offers a $1,000 referral bonus to anyone that refers a potential GC to our agency who makes it to legal clearance.
